The dreaded error -6753 strikes again.. ...

Bought an airport express for my parents yesterday, things were going ok, until I plugged it into a wired network with Internet connectivity, where it asked to update the unit's firmware.
After the firmware update, it began to offer the error -6753 to the utility.

After fighting with it for hours, I took it back to the store and got another one.

Took that one home, configured it as a client and had it playing music thru my stereo in about 10 minutes.

Brought the new working one to my parents, and thru the mess of trying to reconfigure it for their network I foolishly let it update it's firmware too,
then the thing began with the error -6753 again.
Now it won't show up on the network at all!

Apple's support page seems to want money to diagnose it, and won't let me register the unit (claims the date 10 Oct 2009 is invalid).

The PC in question (running the utility program) is a Windows XP home laptop.

Any solid answers from Apple on this? Seems like lots of random tips on the forum, nothing solid..
