Another Ebay Hassle
I've been a buyer and seller for 8+ years. I hadn't bought on Ebay for a while but I noticed that they changed their shipping rules. It always used to be that items had to be shipped out within 3 business days. Now, the seller can list any timeframe they want! I have seen "Seller usually ships within 10 days of cleared payment." Are they kidding??? Then, Ebay has changed their complaint policy so that I cannot even file a complaint for a non-received item until a specific amount of days after the transaction. For example, I bought and paid for an item on May 9th. Seller finally responded to my emails and said item was shipped on the 19th and provided a tracking number. As of today, the tracking number has not been updated with USPS. That's 8 days after it showed up on USPS site saying person printed a shipping label but they haven't actually scanned the label yet. I am seriously sick of all the rules that Ebay initiates to make them more money, give me a bigger headache, and let dishonest people make money being dishonest!!!|||A tracking label or DC...? DC doesn't always get scanned along the way. And really we're not allowed to print a label for one date and hold off and mail it at a later date, the PO gives you fits if they see it! Man just chill out, don't buy anything mail-order you need in a hurry. It's just shopping. You sound a bit overwrought.~James~|||There was NEVER a rule that an item had to be shipped within 3 business days. The old rule was that a seller had to ship within 7 days to maintain protection, now they only need to ship within their stated timeframe. Which by the way is ENTIRELY fair. Most Ebay sellers are individuals with jobs and lives and need to have the ability to set thier own timeframes. If the timeframe on the listing is not to your liking, don't bid. Also, the USPS does NOT scan packages except at acceptance(and 60% of the time or better not even then) and at delivery. You will almost never see one update along the way until it has been dropped off at your location. That's not the sellers fault. Oh, and if you think 10 days is bad(and it's actually not), wait til you come across a seller who says they will ship within THIRTY days(the max. number allowed but I have seen it on more than a few listings).|||They way I do it after tuning in to Griff on Ebay radio is; 1. no info from seller if item was shipped after 5 days I email him. If no response I email two more times. 2. If no response I immediately file a dispute with paypal NOT ebay as ebay has monkies from outer space alleging to help the cusomer. 3. The seller has 24 hours to respond to the dispute on my time table. 4. No response from the seller then file a claim immediately to protect your money. I have never lost any money doing it this way after learning the hard way. You are correct the shipping label issue is a joke thats why its so important to protect yourself quickly.||||||Will usually ship within 10 business days of receiving cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab. Estimated delivery* 12-13 business days Since the shipping was clear in the auction, why are you so worked up? you are now on day 13. If you don't get it tomorrow, file an Item Not Received claim. If you DO get it today or tomorrow, then the seller did exactly what they promised. TO curtis - why would you contact the seller on day 5 if the listing stated shipping within 10 days?|||Man!! Here I feel GUILTY if I don't get the item out next day. I run around like a chicken on day 2 making sure it's on the way no matter what else I have to leave undone. I would be a real "mess" if I didn't get the item out after day 3. I guess I understand that when a buyer purchases from me they do so because they WANT the item. They don't want to receive it a month from now.|||Same here. I was panicked last night because I unplugged the computer during a storm and realized I'd scheduled a pickup and had one more label to print! I stress more about sending things out than I do about getting things in! I'll wait for weeks. I would say I'm the perfect seller and perfect buyer but that would be soooo gauche!~James~||||||Hey OP, thanks so much for posting.|||Yeah, take your time shipping if you don't mind two shipping stars..|||USPS does NOT scan packages except at acceptance The usps is not required to scan e dc(paypal/eship lablels)at acceptance that is why it is free. The only scan they are suppose to do is deliveryIt may not be your fault but it is your responsibility Silver rule "do not do to others what you would not like to be done to you"|||Actually, I sound like someone who likes to receive an item she paid for in a reasonable amount of time. 18+ days and counting is not reasonable.|||Did you check the shipping terms BEFORE you bid OP?|||
