Seller counter offer is BUY It Now!

Hello everyone! I had an eye on an item what was for sale with BIN or best Offer. I made an offer, close to the BIN price and I received the following "counter-offer" from the seller" \Seller message: Sorry but this is a brand new listing. I can't take any offers for it yet. Hope you can accept my asking price. If not, try again in a couple of months if it is still there. Kind regards, Jantina\ I'm just wondering: seller is on ebay for 6 years and has more than 2000 feedback. Is it really possible she/he not able to sell as she/he advertise? If you were me, would you buy from this seller? Thank you for your insight!|||From the message you received, the seller isn't actually willing to settle for anything less than the BIN price (and no, I don't know why s/he even bothered to add the Best Offer option). I think you should just move on and find a seller who's willing to accept the offers that they asked for...|||The seller is not breaking policy by declining your offer. They have the right to decide what amount is acceptable to them. I've listed items before that applied the B/O option and when I went to revise them, I wasn't able to remove it. Of course I reported it, but Ebay was of no help. I could have ended the listings and started new ones, but I wasn't going to pay for Ebay's mistake. I just put a note in the listing, but of course buyers didn't read it.From beasts we scorn as soulless, In forest, field and den, The cry goes up to witness The soullessness of men. ~M. Kind regards, Jantina\ I think the seller is stating she just put thiis listing up and would like to let it run for a while before accepting any offer, not that she can't. She wants to see if she can get her asking price first.|||I would buy it for the BIN price if I really wanted it. BOs are a funny thing; some sellers appear to truly want to negotiate where some want so close to the BIN it is ridiculous. IMO, it looks to me like your seller has set the item up with an eye to the longer term. BOs are not goint to interest her until she gives up on her current BIN price. In my experience, sellers will usually go for a 10% discount. Some will counter offer if you ask for a greater discount and some will ignore you out of a sense of insult. One of the best BO experiences I had was over the price of an Hermes Bolide bag. The seller, God bless her heart, just bottom lined it for me after a bit of back and forth! The cheaper the item, the less sellers are willing to barter IMO. With items costing a few thousand dollars it is worth it to go back and forth and reach a deal. Sellers can set the BO up such that offers below a certain dollar value are automatically rejected. Your seller is taking a risk that a competitor will see her listing and indeed take a BO that she is not willing to entertain that this point. Your other option is to check out like items over the next week or two and see what happens. Good luck shopping! Susan
