Help w/return package lost w/eBay's postage label?
Bought a purse, purse was not as described. Seller agreed to refund, then stopped responding to my messages when I asked to confirm the address to which to return it. So I filed a case with eBay's resolution center, told them seller had agreed to refund, asked for help in accomplishing. They found in my favor, and sent me a link to a pre-paid shipping label addressed to the seller. Label purported to be for either USPS or UPS, whichever I preferred. Delivered it to post office on 5/19, and tracking shows it was picked up on 5/20. Nothing since. Today I got an e-mail from eBay saying (unedited, typos in original): Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the item ##### that you shipped back to the seller. We appreciate your cooperation in regard to this by returning the item to the seller. In order for us to continue, we'll need to confirm if the seller was able to receive the item back. However, record shows that item was picked up by the shipping agent at 2:53 PM on May 20, 2010. No updated information reagrding delivery. We ould suggest that you contact USPS regarding item delivery status. Once the tracking information shows the item has been delivered, you'll receive a refund of the item cost and original shipping charges. eBay requires buyers to pay the cost of return shipping, unless you and the seller have come to a different agreement. You should receive your refund within 3 days of the seller receiving the returned item. If a seller doesn't reply to you, or follow through, eBay will review the case. eBay will decide the case and may issue you a refund. Now, this isn't exactly right - b/c earlier eBay told me that they were covering the shipping. And their method was parcel post. And it doesn't have my address on it as the return address. All I have is the tracking number, as the link is no longer available. What on earth do I do? Obviously contact the post office and hope to locate it. But what should I have done otherwise? I did the return as directed by eBay. If I had been returning it on my own dime I would have used priority mail. The seller is only a few states away, it shouldn't have taken this long. Advice before I tackle dealing with eBay directly?|||Realistically Parcel Post is going to take longer than this to reach the destination. I think this is what USPS will tell you also. It is not unusual for no further scans after the pick up scan as USPS sell Delivery Confirmation not tracking on the cheaper services like Parcel, First Class and Priority Mail. I'd give it another week before worrying. Keep checking the USPS website for the delivery scan and you'll be good to go.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||Next time you check the USPS website for any updates you can sign up for e-mails for past and future activity.~ Lucy ~ Guide to eBay Board AcronymsClick on for links to Help Pages for a new eBayer|||Now, this isn't exactly right - b/c earlier eBay told me that they were covering the shipping. And their method was parcel post. And it doesn't have my address on it as the return address so you printed out a prepaid lable sent to you by eBay? and why wouldn't you put your return adress on a package? seems you took a risk using eBay's method and might just pay more in the end. best to pay yourself and insure it as well. if it's lost , you lose as well. parcel post can take weeks and weeks . it's the last thing i'd ever use.|||Those combo UPS/USPS labels get handed off to UPS by USPS.||||||Thank you all so much! I found the tracking information thru the UPS number, never would have guessed that USPS had palmed it off on UPS but as much resistance as the p.o. put up about taking it I should have known. It was delivered on 5/24 but the seller kept quiet about that. However, I got my refund in only minutes after replying to the eBay message with the tracking information. Thank you so much!
